Mieke Decuyper

Expertise

Dr. Mieke Decuyper holds a PhD in Psychology obtained at Ghent University, entitled “Psychopathy and associated personality pathology in adolescence and adulthood: A dimensional approach”. She currently works as a lecturer and researcher at the Thomas More University of Applied Science, where she teaches Personality Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Practical Psychological Assessment Clinical Psychology 3.  Her research focuses on understanding the many interacting causes that lead people to have serious emotional and behavioral problems, while others remain resilient. Mieke studies general and maladaptive dispositions that underlie tendencies to develop psychopathology, including psychopathic-like traits across the life span. This research line also focuses on the assessment of personality pathology and psychopathology. Additionally, Mieke investigates the influence of psychopathic and broad maladaptive traits on relationship quality and satisfaction in adolescents and adults. Finally, she gives methodological support within the expertise cell Forensic Psychology (research design and development/validation of psychological measures).
